Music Technology (Production)
Level 3 Vocational (Equivalent to 1 A Level)
This course will give you the knowledge, understanding and skills to prepare for apprenticeships or higher education in Music Technology and the wider music industry. The content has been developed in consultation with employers and professional bodies to ensure that it is appropriate for those interested in working in the sector. In addition, higher education representatives have been involved to ensure that it fully supports entry to the relevant range of specialist degrees. You will learn how to use music software and hardware to produce work in various musical contexts. This is assessed through a range of coursework tasks over 2 years.
What skills will I develop?
You will develop a wide range of subject-specific skills including Studio Recording Techniques, Synthesis and Sampling, Mixing and Mastering, Remixing, Midi Programming, Composing to picture and many more.
You will also develop research and presentation skills.

Unit 25 – Music Production Techniques
Unit 32 – Sequencing Systems and Techniques
Unit 35 – Sound Creation and Manipulation
Year 2
Unit 09 – Delivering a Music Product
Unit 20 – Music and Sound for the Moving Image
Unit 43 – Special Subject Investigation.
Where does the course lead?
The course can lead to a range of apprenticeships and degree courses in music technology, production, sound arts and design, digital media, publishing and distribution, communications and composition.
