Travel & Tourism

(Equivalent to 1 A Levels)

This course is for those who have a keen interest in the travel and tourism industry, and wish to develop their knowledge and understanding of this field.  This course is made up of six different units across two years. In the first year, students will develop their understanding of the components of the industry and the appeal of global destinations. Both of these units are externally examined. In the second year students will focus on how to deliver excellent customer service and how visitor attractions appeal to a broad range of customers..

What skills will I develop?

You will develop literacy, numeracy, technical and creative skills through the programme of study.

You will also develop evaluative and analytical skills.

  • Unit 2: The Business of Travel and Tourism
  • Unit 3: The UK as a Destination
  • Unit 4: Customer Service in Travel and Tourism
  • Unit 7: European Destination
  • Unit 8: Long-haul Travel Destinations

Where does the course lead?

This course may lead to further study in Event Management, Tourism Management or Hospitality. Other students may move onto emplyment, for example in the Airline Industry, Resort Services, Tourism and Hospitality or Trainee Management posts.
