Computing

(Level 3 Vocational – Available as equivalent to 1 A Level)

The Pearson Level 3 Alternative Academic Qualification BTEC National in Computing (Extended Certificate) focuses on developing core computer programming knowledge, computational thinking, and problem-solving skills. Students explore information systems, security, encryption, human-computer interaction (HCI), and develop software solutions using programming and computational thinking.

What skills will I develop?

You will develop digital, problem-solving,  numeracy, interpersonal, managing yourself and creative skills through the programme of study. You will additionally learn more specialist skills such as programming languages, software development, and cybersecurity.

What topics will I study?

Year 1:
· Unit 1: Programming Fundamentals
· Unit 3: Human-Computer Interaction
 
Year 2 :
· Unit 2: Computer Network Security and Encryption
· Unit 4: Practical Programming
 

Where does the course lead?

This course prepares students for subjects like IT, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Games & Animations and a range of Software Engineering Degrees.
Alternatively, having built up a range of specialist knowledge and insight, students are better prepared to enter the world of employment in the IT sector.
