Work Experience Vocational Courses BTEC

Work Experience for Vocational Courses – BTEC students joining Sept 2019

Dedicated Work Experience Week

Monday 3rd to Friday 7th February 2020

Work experience is a valuable part of our student’s development and is compulsory for students studying Level 3 vocational courses at Woking College.  The week long placement will provide an excellent opportunity to put their theoretical knowledge into practice and introduce them to the world of work.  This is an essential part of their course.

Why go on work experience?

  • Enhances employability skills
  • Adds extra credibility to your CV/university application
  • Provides examples and experience to talk about at interview
  • Develops confidence and communication skills
  • Gives the opportunity to experience full time employment

We have a designated week for students to undertake their work experience placement.

Monday 3rd to Friday 7th February 2020

Students are responsible for contacting and arranging their own placements.  Once this is done, they and their employer need to complete the work experience paperwork and return it to the Work Experience Co-ordinator along with a copy of the Employer Liability Insurance Certificate by Wednesday 27th November 2019 at the latest.  This will allow the college to arrange the relevant health and safety inspections, where relevant, prior to the placement commencing.

Helen Taylor, the Work Experience Co-ordinator can be contacted at and is based in the Careers Office in the LRC.  Helen can help with work experience queries and completed work experience paperwork can be emailed directly to this email address or brought by the student to the Careers office based in the LRC.

Thank you for supporting us in preparing your son/daughter for their future.
