Our Careers Department, run by friendly, highly experienced staff, offering expert advice and guidance – we are passionate about helping students maximise their potential.
During term time you will have access to our well-resourced office, and we run events throughout the year to introduce students to the variety of opportunities available. This includes our highly regarded Progression Conference, where students hear from university speakers on admission, personal statement writing, courses and student finance. We also have contacts and partnerships with local and international organisations that come to Woking College to engage with students through employability skills workshops.
We encourage all students to consider university study and a majority of our students go on to higher education. We provide support to students in choosing universities, help with personal statements, information on open days, and mock interviews. We check each UCAS form individually with students and have systems in place for the whole application process.
Students are put in touch with staff who provide specialised help, including guidance for medicine applications and help with portfolio and audition preparation for arts and music colleges. The Careers Department also updates students about university summer schools, taster courses and programmes run by universities to widen participation in higher education. We also offer students considering entrance to highly competitive universities a tailored programme of events, visits and advice.
While we strongly encourage students to consider higher education, we ensure every student makes the right choices for them with information on apprenticeships and other programmes offering qualifications and paid employment.
Every student has access to work-related learning during their time at Woking College. You will have the chance to take part in work experience opportunities, workshops and have access to speakers from industry and commerce. We can help you with writing your CV, mock job interviews, application checking and finding work, including advice on approaching employment agencies, using job sites and writing covering letters.
Students are welcome to book appointments with us at any time; we offer a friendly, helpful and confidential service to all. We can be contacted on: firstname.lastname@example.org
