Engineering

(Level 3 Vocational Equivalent to 1 A-Level)

Engineering is a rapidly growing and exciting professional field. This course will allow you to experience a broad range of industry-related topics, giving you the skills and knowledge to make an informed career choice. Engineers are employed in every corner of industry, including energy generation, defence, and the development of computer systems and software.
 
This course covers a wide range of engineering concepts, including mechanics, engineering materials, electrical & electronic principles, scientific theory, computer aided design and essential mathematical tools.  You will develop practical skills in both a mechanical and electrical context and the ability to use a variety of apparatus, whilst deepening your investigative skills by constructing, measuring and testing engineering systems. Communication, presentation and written expression skills will be developed through the production of reports.
 

What skills will I develop?

  • You will apply engineering and mathematical principles to solve mechanical, electrical and electronic  based problems.
  • You will develop the skills necessary to design and manufacture both electrical and mechanical prototypes, including the use of CAD and simulation software
  • You will develop the coding skills required to solve problems using programmable devices with a range of input and output devices
  • You will develop skills in communication, presentation and written expression through the production of reports.
