Engineering

(Level 3 Vocational Equivalent to 1 A-Level)

Engineering is a rapidly growing and exciting professional field. This course will allow you to experience a broad range of industry related topics, giving you the skills and knowledge to make an informed career choice. Engineers are employed in every corner of industry, including energy generation, defence, and the development of computer systems and software.

This course covers a wide range of engineering concepts, including mechanics, electrical & electronic principles, scientific theory and essential mathematical tools.  You will develop your practical skills and the ability to use a variety of apparatus, whilst deepening your investigative skills by constructing, measuring and testing engineering systems. Communication, presentation and written expression skills will be developed through the production of reports.

What skills will I develop?

  • You will apply engineering and mathematical principles to solve electrical, electronic and mechanical based problems. 
  • You will develop practical skills through the use of a broad range of electrical apparatus and the construction, measurement, testing and simulation of circuits.
  • You will develop design skills via a systems approach of applying AC and DC circuit theory to engineering scenarios
  • You will develop skills in communication, presentation and written expression through the production of reports.
