Vocational Level Information

V Levels: What Students and Parents Need to Know

Watch this space. We will update this page as new Vocational Level information becomes available.

The Key Facts

  • Vocational levels (V Levels) are the new Level 3 vocational qualifications launching from September 2027. They will be equivalent to 1 A level.
  • First areas of specialism will include Digital Processes and Data, Early Years and Education, and Finance and Accounting (under consideration)
  • V levels offer a flexible pathway to higher education, apprenticeships, or employment, ensuring students have the skills to reach their career goals.  The qualifications aim to meet employer needs focusing on key work-related purposes for the area of specialism.
  • Students will be able to study a combined programme of V level and A level courses.
  • These qualifications will be introduced gradually, with existing vocational courses continuing alongside them. During the transition to the new qualifications, students are expected to be able to choose from different level 3 qualifications including Levels, V Levels, and other vocational qualifications such as BTEC, CTEC, NCFE
  • Further information on course structure will be added as details are released by the government.
Qualifications Changing From 2027
