Business (L2)

(Available as equivalent to either 1 or 2 GCSEs)

Deepen your critical understanding of business organisations and the markets they serve. Business Administration is studied from looking at the ever changing social media platforms , looking at the perspectives of a range of stakeholders, including customers, employees, shareholders, the Government and the local community. Students will study day to day business administration, the importance of social media influences and the importance of communication in a the Business world.

What skills will I develop?

You will develop report writing skills and research skills using a variety of resources.

You will solidify your IT skills, using the Microsoft Office suite and effective internet researching.

You will also learn teamworking, problem solving, debating, and presentational skills.

What topics will I study?

This course is available as both an Award (equivalent to 1 GCSE) and Certificate (equivalent to 2 GCSEs). Topics for both options are outlined below:

Cambridge Technical Certificate – Only your best two units count towards the qualification:

  • Unit 3: Use social media for business purpose
  • Unit 4: Provide administrative support
  • Unit 5: Follow administrative practices and create procedures
  • Unit 6: Communicate in a Business environment
  • Unit 7: Support the organisation of a n event

Cambridge Technical Extended Certificate – Only your best four units count towards the qualification:

  • Unit 1: Principles of working in Business Administration (externally assessed)
  • Unit 2: Understand the roles of an administrator (externally assessed)
  • Unit 3: Use social media for business purpose
  • Unit 4: Provide administrative support
  • Unit 5: Follow administrative practices and create procedures
  • Unit 6: Communicate in a Business environment
  • Unit 7: Support the organisation of a n event

Where does the course lead?

Students who have successfully completed the course generally go on to study either Business or IT at Level 3. Others have either gone on to study various different courses or have started working for a business in a trainee role. 

Covering a wide range of topics, and developing a wide range of skills, the course is designed to make you more attractive to employers. The vocational nature of the course means that you will be required to apply what you learn in class to different situations that occur in business. Consequently, you will be better prepared to deal with events, as and when they arise in the workplace.
