Introduction

BTEC First in Business will introduce you to Business Studies. You will investigate different aspects of Business, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the subject area as well as the skills to succeed at Level 3 and beyond.

What topics…

This course is available as both an Award (equivalent to 1 GCSE) and Certificate (equivalent to 2 GCSEs). Topics for both options are outlined below:

BTEC First Award in Business:

• Unit 1: Introduction to Business
• Unit 2: Finance for Business (exam)
• Unit 3: Enterprise in the Business World
• Unit 4: Promoting a Brand

BTEC Certificate in Business:

• Unit 1: Enterprise in the Business World
• Unit 2: Finance for Business (exam)
• Unit 9: Principles of Marketing (exam)

You will also study 3 other coursework units on more specialised Business topics. In the past, these have included Customer Service, Business Online, Teambuilding, Business Administration and Personal Finance

Where does the course lead?

Students who have achieved a Merit or above generally go on to study Business at Level 3. However, you will develop skills which will help you gain an apprenticeship or job in Business.
