Summer Art & Design Exhibition at the Lightbox

Celebrating its eighth year at The Lightbox, The Woking College Summer Art and Design Exhibition celebrates work from students in all the Visual Arts categories including Fine Art, CTEC Art & Design, Design & Technology, Photography and Textiles. The exhibition is the culmination of students work for their A Level examinations.

The Private View on Wednesday 28th June drew the largest number of guests since the Exhibition’s inception with over 500 students, parents, past pupils, trustees of the Lightbox and VIP guests. Students from Woking College provided a mellow backdrop of Jazz music and refreshments were served.

The Exhibition is open to the public from Thursday 29th June to Sunday 9th July: Admission is free

Highlights of this year’s show included a catwalk fashion show featuring and modelled by students studying Textiles at the College and was greeted with a standing ovation and much cheers and applause.

Art Prizes judged by The Lightbox and Jan Rubin from NADFAS were awarded to students in the following categories-:

  • CTEC Art & Design – Jasmine Ritchie
  • Fine Art – Lily Robinson Hill
  • Graphics – Fraser Tatterdill
  • Photography – Winona Newman
  • Resistant Materials – Thomas Crook
  • Textiles – Gemma Jones
  • Award for Best in Show – Nadia Asbridge.

These talented students now have the opportunity for their work to be entered in the prestigious National NADFAS competition where their work could be displayed at London’s famous Mall galleries.

Head of Art Emma Hobbs commented: “Our students engagement with their subject, hard work and determination to succeed is clearly evident in the exceptional work they have produced. I am very proud of their achievements and successes and the hard work of my team in supporting and inspiring them on their journey to becoming young artists.”
