After two years “in the dark” the Beldam Theatre at Woking College sprang into “lights, camera, action!” with students performing “Legally Blonde. The Musical” to packed audiences with all tickets sold out before the three-night run.
Based on the hit movie of the same name, Legally Blonde the Musical chronicles the journey of the famously perky Elle Woods, a fashion-savvy UCLA sorority girl who finds her life turned upside down when she is dumped by her boyfriend Warner. In an effort to prove to Warner that she is more than just a blonde bimbo, she follows him to Harvard Law school where she struggles to fit in. Ultimately, she defies expectations and succeeds as a lawyer whilst staying true to her delightfully pink personality.
With a cast of 37 young actors and dancers and a live band, the production played to standing ovations each night.
Directed by Claire Nevers, Head of Performing Arts with musical arrangements by Anna Power Head of Music and choreography by Millie Collyer Claire congratulated students on their professionalism and dedication in putting on a truly professional production after only 12 rehearsals
Student Ellie Kitkat who plays the female lead of Elle Woods commented “playing the role of Elle has been an incredible opportunity, it has been hard work but great fun. I have loved every moment of working with so many amazing people and hope everyone enjoys the show.”
